Public scale weight from the site of Tarraco (Tarragona, Spain), dated in the 2nd century AD. Bronze counterweight (aequipondium) from a large public scales (statera) found in the Tarraco port area. Exceptionally heavy (38kg), such items could weight more than 1500 kg. It represents the Aequitas (Equity), the protector numen of fair transactions and public order in market weights and measures.
