Description

In 2018, the Friends of the Convento de la Hoz Association requested that GDH assist the community by digitizing the Convent of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles de la Hoz located in the Duraton Canyon in Segovia, Spain.

This heritage site consists of the remains of a 13th century convent that is believed to have been established by the Franciscan Order. During the 15th and 16th centuries the convent received visits from people of great importance including Queen Isabella I of Castile and King Philip II of Spain. Unfortunately, the site was abandoned in the middle 19th century, beginning a process rapid deterioration.

The convent is located in a very inaccessible area, which can only be reached on foot for a few months a year. The digitization of this monument was essential so that the community might prepare a proposal for restoration of the convent.
