Altar from the site of Tarraco (Tarragona, Spain), dated in the 1st century AD. From the Tarraco Theatre where it would probably have stood in the middle of the orchestra. On the front, an inscription dedicated to the numen -the strength, power and charisma- of the Augusts. On the other sides there are representations of three ritual elements: a lituus (a ritual stick), an urceus (jar) and a patera.
