The burial chamber (cubiculum) is located in the upper level of the catacombs. The back wall of an arched niche shows Christ (middle) and the Apostles Peter (left) and Paul (right). The scene is called “God gives the law”. The 2 deceased Alexander and Martha, lambs and a medallion with Christogram and the Greek letters Alpha and Omega (Symbols for the beginning and the end) are in the reveal.
Fruit baskets and 2 named saints (Gennaro [left] and Lorenzo [right]) decorate the front wall.
The paintings are currently dated in the 6th century AD. The catacombs itself were used for burials from the 2nd century AD to the Middle Ages. GDH # Fresco 25.
