This bone was scanned in high resolution with a Faro Arm and processed in Geomagic Studio. To make this object easily viewable on the web we reduced the resolution and used a technique called Normal Maps. High resolution mesh is 5 million triangles, real length is 81mm. Note that black areas: these are the sacral canal and foramens (interconnecting tunnels for the nerves etc.); these areas can’t be captured by the scanner.
Material is housed at Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, Paris FR.
Documentation was done as part of a collaborative project between the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle, Paris, France and Global Digital Heritage, St. Petersburg, Florida, USA.
