Archaeological remains of the old Alcázar Mayor (Nasir Alcázar) of the
medieval Islamic city of Mursiya (Murcia, Spain), preserved under the
current church of San Juan de Dios. In this area it has been possible
to discover the remains of the old private oratory of the fortress,
part of the wall and a royal pantheon. In the pantheon or rawda have
been located the remains of nine tombs attributed to the family of
Emir Ibn Mardanís (popularly called Wolf King by Christians). The
tombs are covered by mqabriyya made with white marble. Among the tombs
found there are several of small size that are attributed to young
children although they have not yet been excavated. In the rest of the
tombs, the bodies that were excavated followed the Islamic ritual of
burial, that is, with the face looking at Mecca and the body on its
side.
