Roman ritual bell from the Site of Tarraco (Tarragona, Spain). Dated between the 2nd and 3rd centuries A.D. Bell for ritual use found in 1984 in the area of the Tarraco Colonial Forum. It bears an inscription, although its transcription is subject to controversy. The most recent proposal translates it as: ”Prayer. This youthful messenger bell from our land announces better times for the Senate and the Roman people. If the Augusts and the Roman people are well, Tarraco is happy”.
