The ancient Islamic city of Siyasa or Medina Siyâsa is located in Cieza (Murcia, Spain). It is one of the best preserved medieval sites from the Islamic period in Europe. The Siyasa Cemetery is located at one end of the city on a small promontory. Much of the cemetery is located within the walled compound. The burials follow the Islamic rite so that the body of the deceased is placed on its side with the face facing Mecca. Furthermore, the graves lack funerary objects.
