Stamped jar fragment from Calatrava la Vieja, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. Islamic almohad period (1195-1212 CE). This artifact was found in the 2018 excavations in the south-east sector of the medina, next to the western wall of the alcázar. As usual during the almohad period in al-Andalus for these kind of vessels, this container was decorated with printed stamps, in this case with geometric and plant motifs distributed in several horizontal bands that cover almost the whole body. This fragment was burned after the jar was broken.
