In 2018, GDH in collaboration with the General Directorate of Cultural Assets of the Region of Murcia (Spain), and the town councils of Alhama de Murcia, Mula, Águilas, Murcia and Cieza, began an ambitious campaign to digitize monuments and sites in the region of Murcia.
For the selection of the sites, we sought to cover a wide spatial and temporal spectrum, including sites from prehistory to the 20th century located in different municipalities of the region. GDH digitalized 12 archaeological sites distributed throughout the municipalities of Alhama de Murcia (castle, Las Paleras fortress and town, El Murtal fortress, machine gun bunker from the Spanish Civil War and the Roman baths), Mula (Los Vélez castle), Cieza (medieval city of Siyasa, La Serreta Cave and Archaeological Museum), Águilas (Cope Tower) and Murcia (Islamic remains of San Juan de Dios and Larache archaeological site).
Between 2019 and 2022, the documentation of several Machine Gun Bunkers of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) continued in the municipalities of Águilas and Alhama de Murcia.
