Carlos Carpetudo, BA
Heritage Research Scientist
Carlos Carpetudo has a degree in Archaeology from the Universidade de Évora and is currently undertaking the master’s degree at the same University. He has training in heritage virtualization at the Universidad de Burgos and specialized in Virtual Heritage and Historical Illustration at the Universidad de Alicante. He has been the coordinator of Morbase since 2014, a Public Archaeology project for the valorisation of Historical Heritage of the Municipality of Montemor-o-Novo – Portugal. This project was distinguished within the scope of Best Practices in the Public Service by the Rede Comum de Conhecimento and received, in 2018, an honourable mention for Best Communication Technology by the Regional Tourism Authority of Alentejo and Ribatejo. Morbase was also at the origin of the Virtual Archaeology Symposium, an Iberian non-profit initiative to enhance heritage through virtualization. He is specialized in the field of 3D virtual reconstruction of heritage sites and artefacts with several distinguished projects in Portugal and Spain. Since 2020 he has participated as a heritage research scientist with Global Digital Heritage in Sharjah – United Arab Emirates, in Portugal, primarily in the areas of virtual reconstructions, multi-media applications, and virtual reality development.
