Matthew Vincent, MA

Board Member

Since 2004, Matthew Vincent has been deeply involved in the field of archaeology, beginning his journey in Jordan. He soon integrated technology into his archaeological pursuits, initially focusing on GIS. Over time, he expanded his expertise to include photogrammetry, laser scanning, and immersive visualization. In 2014, Matthew became a part of the Initial Training Network for Digital Cultural Heritage, a program under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, which emphasizes the technological approach to cultural heritage. A year later, in 2015, he co-founded Rekri (previously known as Project Mosul) alongside fellow researcher, Chance Coughenour.

Currently, Matthew holds the position of co-director for the National Inventory Project at the American Center of Research in Amman, Jordan. There, he also leads the Abdoun Community Archaeology Program and oversees various digital archaeology projects. At GDH, he is a member of the board of directors and contributes to European projects, even participating in fieldwork when possible. Matthew’s areas of expertise encompass Photogrammetry, Databases, 3D acquisition, Drones, Web-based and Mobile Applications, Crowdsourcing, and Public Archaeology.
