Senior Scientist and Director of VR, AR and Web-based Applications

Néstor F. Marqués is an archaeologist, research specialist in technology applied to heritage, and cultural disseminator. He combines his technological work with historical and archaeological research, as well as technological and historical teaching. He works internationally, virtually recreating heritage in 3D with the highest quality and resolution using photogrammetry.

In recent years, he has also focused on facilitating researchers’ and the general public’s access to heritage monuments and museum collections through 3D models. He develops universal accessibility strategies by creating life-size, enlarged, or reduced replicas of artifacts through 3D printing, collaborating with experts such as the Vilamuseu team, with whom he won the International Silver Universal Design Award (IAUD) in 2020.

He is a founding partner of the company 3D Stoa – Patrimonio y tecnología, along with Pablo Aparicio and Miguel Fernández, known for comprehensive projects like azoguejo1520.com. He serves as a Senior Scientist at the Global Digital Heritage Foundation being also in charge of VR, AR and web-based applications. He is also a co-founder and educator at the Koré Formación platform, specializing in technology applied to heritage. He is one of the masters at Sketchfab, and is the director of the dissemination project on the Roman world “Antigua Roma al Día,” which has over 300,000 followers and has published four books on the subject to date.
