Yara Alkhatib is an architect and researcher specializing in the 3D documentation, digitisation, and reconstruction of cultural and architectural heritage. She holds a Master’s degree in Historical Building Rehabilitation from the University of Bologna, where she worked as a research fellow focusing on the 3D reconstruction of lost and endangered heritage sites.
Currently, Yara collaborates with both the Global Digital Heritage (GDH) initiative and the American Center of Research (ACOR) on a joint project in Jordan. She contributes her skills in photogrammetry and 3D imaging to digitally preserve artifacts, architectural elements, and historic sites, supporting improved documentation, research, and open access.
Yara is passionate about open access to heritage data and digital reconstructions, using them to raise awareness and support preservation. She also explores adaptive reuse to connect conservation with contemporary architecture, blending design, technology, and storytelling to keep cultural memory alive.
