Iron ferrule. Used to finish off the lower part of the spear, it had multiple uses: It allows the warrior who fights with a wielded spear to have a second spearhead if the shaft breaks during combat; a sharp ferrule allows the weapon to be driven into the ground when not in use, thus preventing the wooden shaft from splintering, allowing it to finish off fallen enemies (Quesada Sanz, 1997: 429-431). From the archaeological site of Cerro de las Cabezas, Valdepeñas, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. Iron Age (4th-3rd centuries BC). In the collection of the Valdepeñas Museum. Catalog number 519-CC15-F2N66-95. Model made in Reality Capture using 380 images. Additional processing completed in Geomagic Wrap, Zbrush, and Blender.

This work is part of the collaboration agreement signed in 2020 between Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha and Global Digital Heritage for the digitization of the Cultural Heritage of Castilla-La Mancha region. We want to publicly thank the collaboration of the Valdepeñas Museum.
