This point cloud is of the Roman Villa of Realmonte, located on the Mediterreanan Sea along the southern coast of Sicily. This site was occupied from the 2nd to the 7th centuries and was likely home to a large estate that was possibly the location of extensive pottery, brick and tile production. The point cloud was created using two FARO Focus3D laserscanners. Data were processed in FARO SCENE and CloudCompare.

The data for this project were originally collected as a collaboration between scholars at the University of Catania, CVAST at USF, and FBK in Trento. Dr. Mariarita Sgarlata and Dr. Herbert Maschner, Principal Investigators. The data were transferred to Global Digital Heritage (GDH) in 2018 for processing and analysis. Funding for this project in all phases has been provided by the Hitz Foundation, Herbert Maschner, Principal Investigator. Citation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Realmonte
